About the Meghalaya State Warehousing Corporation
The Meghalaya State Warehousing Corporation was established after being bifurcated from Assam State Warehousing Corporation in the year 1975, under the Warehousing Corporation Act, 1962 enacted by the Parliament for the purpose of Warehousing of agricultural produce and certain other commodities and for connected matters. The Meghalaya State Warehousing Corporation was established w.e.f. 30th March 1973.
Unlike other State Government undertakings, the Meghalaya State Warehousing Corporation has two shareholders viz, Central Warehousing Corporation and the State Government on 50:50 basis. The main source of funding of the Corporation is share Capital contributions from its shareholders. The Authorised Share Capital of the Corporation is Rs.5.00 Crores. The total paid up share capital of the Corporation is as follows :
- Central Warehousing Corporation - 1.225 Crores
- State Government - 1.135 Crores
Total - 3.360 Crores
The Corporation at present has a total Storage Capacity of 17,700 metric tonne at different district of the State. The storage capacity is utilised by Food Corporation of India as well as other private parties.
